  1. Beat half a pound of brown sugar and the same of butter together until it becomes a fine cream.
  2. Add six very well beaten eggs and sweetmeats (if agreeable).
  3. Mix all ingredients together.
  4. Bake for three quarters of an hour.
  5. Add a little brandy.
  6. Lay puff paste around the dish.

Amber Pudding. Half a pound of brown sugar, the same of butter, beat up as a cake, till it becomes a fine cream, six eggs very well beaten, and sweetmeats, if agreeable; mix all together. Three quarters of an hour will bake it; add a little brandy, and lay puff paste round the dish.
