  1. Beat half a pint of spring water, a nob of double refined sugar, and a very little bit of allum together with the yolk of an egg.
  2. Beat in a large spoonful of the juice of sage.
  3. Tie a rag to the end of a stick, dip it in this liquor, and often clean the mouth.
  4. Give the child every night one drop of laudanum, and the next day proper physic.
  5. Wash the mouth often with this liquor.

TAKE half a pint of spring water, a nob of double refined sugar, a very little bit of allum, beat it well together with the yolk of an egg, then beat it in a large spoonful of the juice of sage, tie a rag to the end of a stick, dip it in this liquor, and often clean the mouth. Give the child every night one drop of laudanum, and the next day proper physic, washing the mouth often with this liquor.
