  1. Mix into a pound of fine flour a pound of loaf-sugar beat and sifted, and rub it into a pound of pure sweet butter till it is thick like grated white bread.
  2. Then put to it two spoonsful of rose-water, two of sack, and ten eggs.
  3. Work them well with a whisk.
  4. Put in eight ounces of currants.
  5. Butter the tin pans.
  6. Fill them but half full.
  7. Bake them.

Butter the tin pans, fill them but half full, and bake them. If made without currants, they will keep half a year.
