  1. Put a quart of split peas into four quarts of water, with some roast beef bones, or a little lean bacon.
  2. Add one head of celery cut small, with three or four turnips.
  3. Let it boil gently till it is reduced to two quarts, and then work it through a cullender with a wooden spoon.
  4. Mix a little flour and water well together, and boil them in the soup.
  5. Add another head of celery, with chyan pepper and salt to your taste.
  6. Cut a slice of bread in dice, fry them a light brown, and put them into your dish; after which pour in the soup, and serve it up.

Pease Soup in the Common Way. PUT a quart of split peas into four quarts of water, with some roast beef bones, or a little lean bacon. Add one head of celery cut small, with three or four turnips.
