  1. Gather the raspberries when the sun is hot upon them, and as soon as ever you have got them.
  2. To every five quarts of raspberries put one quart of the best brandy.
  3. Boil a quart of water five minutes with a pound of double refined sugar in it, and pour it boiling hot on the berries.
  4. Let it stand all night.
  5. Then add nine quarts more brandy, stir it about very well.
  6. Put it in a stone bottle, and let it stand a month or six weeks.
  7. When fine bottle it.

To make RASPBERRY BRANDY. GATHER the raspberries when the sun is hot upon them, and as soon as ever you have got them to every five quarts of raspberries put one quart of the best brandy, boil a quart of water five minutes with a pound of double refined sugar in it, and pour it boiling hot on the berries, let it stand all night, then add nine quarts more brandy, stir it about very well, put it in a stone bottle, and let it stand a month or six weeks; when fine bottle it.
