  1. Lay an ounce of gambouge in a quarter of a pint of water.
  2. Put an ounce and a half of good stone blue in a little water.
  3. When they are both dissolved, mix them together.
  4. Add a quarter of a pint more water.
  5. Add a quarter of a pound of fine sugar.
  6. Boil it a little.
  7. Then put it into a gallipot.
  8. Cover it close and it will keep for years.
  9. Be careful not to make it too deep a green, for a very little will do at a time.
