Spice Loaf. (Mrs. Hunt. 1885.) Take 1 lb. of ordinary bread dough, ¼ lb. moist sugar, 3 ozs. lard, ¼ lb. butter, 3 eggs, 2 ozs. candied peel, a little allspice, ½ lb. sultanas, ½ lb. currants. When mixed, put in a mould to remain a quarter of an hour before baking.
