  1. Peel the lemon very finely.
  2. Put the peel, water, sugar and prunes in a stew-pan.
  3. Simmer gently until very tender.
  4. Put the prunes in a glass dish.
  5. Add the juice of the lemon to the syrup.
  6. Reduce it until thick.
  7. Strain over the prunes.
  8. This is best prepared the day before it is required.

Stewed Prunes 1 lb. prunes 1 pint water ¹⁄₂ lb. sugar 1 lemon Peel the lemon very finely. Put the peel, water, sugar and prunes in a stew-pan. Simmer gently until very tender.
