  1. Blanch five ounces of bitter almonds.
  2. Beat the blanched almonds in a marble mortar very fine.
  3. Optionally, add a spoonful of sack while beating the almonds.
  4. Mix the beaten almonds with the whites of three new-laid eggs, three pints of spring-water, and one pint of sack.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine cloth.
  6. Put the strained liquid into a bottle and keep for use.
  7. Optionally, add lemon or powder of pearl when using the almond milk.

To make Almond Milk for a Wash. BLANCH five ounces of bitter almonds, and beat them in a marble mortar very fine. You may put in a spoonful of sack, when you beat them if you chuse it; then take the whites of three new-laid eggs, three pints of spring-water, and one pint of sack. Mix them all very well together; then strain it through a fine cloth, and put it into a bottle, and keep it for use. You may put in lemon, or powder of pearl, when you make use of it.
