  1. Put a blade of mace and a quartered nutmeg into a quart of cream.
  2. Boil it, then strain it.
  3. Add to it some whole rice boiled, and a little brandy.
  4. Sweeten it to your palate.
  5. Stir it over the fire till it thickens, and serve.
