  1. Put your meat with the lemon, onion, sweet-herbs, and mace into the pan.
  2. Stir them together for five or six minutes.
  3. Put in about half a pint of gravy, with an anchovy minced small, and a piece of butter rolled in flour.
  4. Stir the whole well together.
  5. When it has stewed about ten minutes, dish it up, and serve it to table.
  6. Garnish with pickles and sliced lemon.
