  1. Blanch and three parts boil six large Spanish onions in milk and water, or plain water.
  2. Place the blanched and boiled onions on a well buttered baking tin, or dish.
  3. Cover the onions with breadcrumbs and morsels of butter or clarified dripping.
  4. Bake for about one hour in a moderate oven till nicely coloured and quite tender.
  5. Serve in the dish they were cooked in.
