  1. Rub 1/2lb. of butter into a quarter of flour till smooth.
  2. Add a gill of yeast, and stir in gradually a pint of warm water.
  3. Cover the pan, and let the dough rise in a warm place to twice its original bulk.
  4. Dust a little fresh flour over it, and knead it.
  5. Let it rise again for a little.
  6. Turn it out on a floured board and roll it.
