  1. Chop fine half a pound of suet, mix it with one pound of flour, one teaspoonful of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Make it into a stiff dough with cold water or milk.
  3. Dip a pudding cloth in boiling water, dredge well with flour, put in the pudding, tie it securely, but leave it room to swell.
  4. Boil in plenty of water one hour and a half.
  5. Or grease a pint and a half basin and put it in, tie a cloth over and boil two hours.
