  1. Dip a lump of treble refined loaf sugar in water.
  2. Boil it stitish.
  3. Take it off the heat.
  4. Rub it with the back of a silver spoon to the side of your pan.
  5. Grate in some lemon-peel.
  6. Boil it up.
  7. Drop it on paper.
  8. If you want it red, put in a little cochineal.

To make LEMON DROPS. DIP a lump of treble refined loaf sugar in water, boil it stitish, take it off, rub it with the back of a silver spoon to the side of your pan, then grate in some lemon-peel, boil it up, and drop it on paper; if you want it red put in a little cochineal.
