  1. Beat and sift half a pound of double refined sugar.
  2. Scrape into it one ounce of chocolate very fine.
  3. Mix them together.
  4. Beat the white of an egg to a very high froth.
  5. Stir in your sugar and chocolate.
  6. Keep beating it till it is as stiff as paste.
  7. Sugar your papers.
  8. Drop them on about the size of a six-pence.
  9. Bake them in a very slow oven.
