1 lb. of flour ↝ Flour, 00 [Cereal Grains and Pasta]
6 ozs. sugar ↝ Sugar, NFS [Sugars and honey]
1/2 lb. currants ↝ Currants, european black, raw [Fruits and Fruit Juices]
1/2 lb. butter to be beaten up to a cream ↝ Butter, stick, unsalted [Dairy and Egg Products]
3 eggs ↝ Eggs, Grade A, Large, egg whole [Dairy and Egg Products]
1/4 of a nutmeg grated ↝ Oil, nutmeg butter [Fats and Oils]
1/2 pt. of milk ↝ Milk, NFS [Milk, reduced fat]
1 teaspoonful soda

Stir all well together
beat for 5 minutes
bake in a tin shape

Soda Cake. No. 3. (St. Julian's. 1879.)
1 lb. of flour to 6 ozs. sugar, ½ lb. currants, ½ lb. butter to be beaten up to a cream, 3 eggs, ¼ of a nutmeg grated, ½ pt. of milk, 1 teaspoonful soda. Stir all well together, beat for 5 minutes, and bake in a tin shape.
