“Straws” (for Dessert). (Birk Hall.)
1 lb. of flour, rub into it ½ oz. of butter, adding a pinch of salt. Mix all with a little milk into a stiff paste. Beat well with the biscuit brake,* roll out as thin as possible. Cut like cheese straws, bake in a slow oven till crisp and brown—5 or 6 minutes will do.
