  2. Let it stand till cold.
  3. Pour the water off into a basin.
  4. Add the juice of 1/2 lemon and some sugar.
  5. Pour it into a jug or decanter with the thin rind of a lemon.

Barley Water. No. 1. Take a teacupful well-washed pearl barley, pour over it 2 pts. of boiling water which must stand till cold, and then be poured off into a basin; add the juice of ½ lemon and some sugar and pour it into a jug or decanter with the thin rind of a lemon.
