  1. Peel six oranges, removing all the pith, divide each into six or eight pieces.
  2. Put them in a pan, with a quarter of a pound of sugar, and the juice of one orange.
  3. Set it on a slow fire, with the cover on, stir it now and then.
  4. Ten minutes will be sufficient time for it.
  5. Take out the pieces one after the other, lay them in a basin.
  6. Reduce your syrup to a proper thickness.
  7. When ready to serve, dish your pieces of orange in it, and pour over the syrup.

Ditto, with Orange.—Well peel six oranges, removing all the pith, divide each into six or eight pieces, put them in a pan, with a quarter of a pound of sugar, and the juice of one orange, set it on a slow fire, with the cover on, stir it now and then; ten minutes will be sufficient time for it, take out the pieces one after the other, lay them in a basin, reduce your syrup to a proper thickness, when ready to serve, dish your pieces of orange in it, and pour over the syrup.
