  1. Wash and dry the tea sage, balm, and woodsorrel.
  2. Put the washed herbs into a stone jug.
  3. Peel a small lemon thinly, removing the white pith.
  4. Slice the lemon and add a piece of the peel to the jug.
  5. Pour three pints of boiling water over the ingredients.
  6. Sweeten the mixture to taste.
  7. Cover the jug tightly.

A refreshing drink in a Fever. Put a little tea sage, two sprigs of balm, and a little woodsorrel into a stone jug, having first washed and dried them; peel thin a small lemon, and clear from the white; slice it, and put a bit of the peel in, then pour in three points of boiling water, sweeten, and cover it close.
