  1. Gather and dry nettle leaves and seed in proper season.
  2. Beat the dried nettle leaves and seed into powder.
  3. Make the powder into a paste with flour, adding a little sweet olive-oil.
  4. Make this paste up into small crams.
  5. Coop the birds up and feed them with the crams.
  6. Give them water in which barley has been boiled.

Fowls, to fatten in a fortnight. Gather and dry, in proper season, nettle leaves and seed; beat them into powder, and make it into paste with flour, adding a little sweet olive-oil. Make this up into small crams: coop the birds up and feed them with it, giving them water in which barley has been boiled, and they will fatten in the above-mentioned time.
