TAKE a pint of bruised groats, and put three pints of fair water to them early in the morning, and let it stand till noon, then pour all the water off, and put in the same quantity of water as before upon them, stir it well, and let it stand till four o'clock, then run it through a sieve of cloth, then boil it, and keep stirring it all the while, put in a spoonful of water now and then as it boils, when it begins to thicken drop a little on a plate; when it leaves the plate it is enough: put it in glasses to turn out.
