Use the same paste, but without seeds, as Cataldi's Seed Cake No. 1.

Icing

white icing ↝ Icing, white [Jams, syrups, toppings]
rose colour icing with cochineal ↝ Icing, white [Jams, syrups, toppings]

Flavouring

vanilla flavouring ↝ Vanilla extract [Spices and Herbs]
essence of kernels flavouring ↝ Seeds, sunflower seed, kernel, raw [Nut and Seed Products]

Instructions (4)

Use the same paste as Cataldi's Seed Cake No. 1, but without seeds.
Make these little cakes for dessert, but not quite so thick as real draughtsmen.
Ice them, some white, some a delicate rose colour with cochineal.
Flavour one colour with vanilla and the other with essence of kernels.

"Draughtsmen" Cakes.
Use the same paste, but without seeds, as Cataldi's Seed Cake No. 1. He makes these little cakes for dessert, so called from their shape, but not quite so thick as real draughtsmen. He ices them, some white, some a delicate rose colour with cochineal, and flavours one colour with vanilla and the other with essence of kernels.
