  1. Beat half a pound of butter to a fine cream.
  2. Add the same weight of flour, one egg, six ounces of beaten and sifted loaf sugar, and half an ounce of carra-way seeds.
  3. Mix them with a paste.
  4. Roll them thin.
  5. Cut them round with a small glass, or little tins.
  6. Prick them.
  7. Lay them on sheets of tin.
  8. Bake them in a slow oven.
