  1. Boil the crumb of a penny loaf in a quart of milk till it is soft.
  2. Take it off the fire, and grate in half a nutmeg.
  3. Put in sugar to your taste.
  4. Pour it into a china bowl, and put in by degrees a pint of Lisbon wine.
  5. Serve it up with the toasted bread upon a plate.
